The OpenStack community just announced the availability of its twelfth release, code named Liberty. It has been a quick six months since the Liberty OpenStack Design Summit in Vancouver but with each turn of the crank, OpenStack is getting better and better. Customer adoption is increasing and Cisco OpenStack is a cloud operating system that controls large pools of compute, storage, and networking resources throughout a datacenter, all managed through a dashboard that gives administrators control while empowering their users to provision resources through a web interface. OpenStack is a Cloud Software that manage large pool of compute (hypervisors), storage ( block & swift ) and network resources of a data center. It provides a Dashboard where admins can create and manage Projects (Tenants ) and give appropriate access to the project members , further on Project members can create VMs (Virtual Machine). As a result, there is only ONE agent process started. If you want VPN, you select the VPN agent, which includes all the functionality of the L3 agent (and FW, if flag selected in the code). so, when you install neutron-vpn-agent with apt-get in ubuntu os, it will remove l3 agent automatically.
